What an experience we had this weekend. We took our first backpacking trip with Emery and we decided to do Lone Peak which is not an easy hike. Overall it was a lot of fun and we went with a group of awesome people. I wish I had gotten a picture of the whole clan. The hike up was steep and hard-about 4 hours of hiking constant uphill. We got to camp after dark, set up camp and ate dinner. Then we woke up and headed to the base of the summit where everyone ditched their packs and Emery and I hung out at the base (its pretty sketchy at the top, not a good place for Em) while everyone hiked the last half mile to the summit. Then we hiked down. The hike down was pretty awful. Emery is just amazing-she loves camping and actually likes the pack. She is a pleasant little talker and singer while she is in the pack. So back to the hike down: we ended up getting lost and on the wrong trail. We split up so there were 5 of us that got lost and the other 4 made it down on the right trail. We had to bushwack and go up and down over ridges, trying to decide the best way to get off the mountain. It was pretty stressful for all of us, but we made it. We barely made it before sundown and had just enough water and food to make it down. Don't worry, we won't be taking Emery on any backpacking trips like that any time soon.
Emery's crawling and all over the place now.Its hard to see with all the smoke in the air from the fires, but you can see Utah lake in the background. Beautiful views the whole time!
Not a great picture of me, but you can see the summit and its amazing sheer cliffs!
We had so much fun!

I love all these pictures and photos you posted. I watch them multiple times. You must hear it all the time, but she is growing up so fast! Can't believe you went all that way up Lone Peak carrying her. That sounds exhausting.
